Château Haut-Brion

Pessac

Located at the gates of Bordeaux, in the commune of Pessac, Château Haut-Brion is located on two large cuts of Günzian gravel from the Quaternary, rich in quartz, and delimited by two streams. The subsoil is composed of clay and sand. The estate of 51 ha in one piece is planted with red grape varieties for 48 ha and 3 ha with white grape varieties. The vines are 40 years old on average.

The history of Château Haut-Brion is long and fascinating. Four families have succeeded each other since the 16th century and have distinguished themselves by many innovations, which would not only find the way to success. For example, it was in Haut-Brion that bottling at the château was invented. The Clarence Dillon estate is now managed by the great-grandson of this American banker who one day in 1935 acquired Château Haut-Brion, Prince Robert of Luxembourg. At his side, Jean-Philippe Delmas masterfully manages the operation of the estates, just as his father and grandfather did before.
