Domaine de la Janasse

Courthézon

In 1967, Aimé Sabon took over the vines from his father (who brought his grapes to the cooperative cellar) and his father-in-law (who sold the wine to the trade). In 1973, Aimé built his own cellar. Thus was born the Domaine de la Janasse, named after the family farm which was located in Courthézon, at a place called “La Janasse”. He continues to expand the estate by acquiring new plots. From 15 hectares yesterday, La Janasse now occupies 90 hectares.

In 1991, Christophe Sabon joined his father who, from the start, left him the keys to the cellar. Under his leadership, La Janasse produces different cuvées, conquers new markets and is firmly in keeping with its time. In 2001, Isabelle, Christophe's sister, an oenologist who graduated from the Faculty of Toulouse, joined the team. With Hélène, the wife of Aimé and the mother of Christophe and Isabelle, the family is reunited in La Janasse, which becomes, in a few years, one of the jewels of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
