Domaine Gerin

Ampuis

The GERIN family has been established in the heart of the Côte-Rôtie vineyard, in the village of Ampuis, for 6 generations. The story begins with the purchase of a plot in Côte-Rôtie, symbolizing the creation of Domaine Jean-Michel GERIN, created in 1983. It was then in 1987 that the first bottle was born, thanks to the takeover of the family business (the vines of Marcel GERIN and Alfred GERIN, grandfather and father).

It then continued in 1988, with the first separate vinification of the place called “Les Grandes Places”, followed in 1996 by “La Landonne”. It was in 2003 that the planting of the place called “La Viallière” began, on the lands of Côte-Rôtie. In 2018, the Lieu-dit Côte-Bodin was vinified separately for the first time.

At the beginning of 1990, the construction of a cuvage and a barrel cellar became necessary. The bottle storage will be built in 2000. The king grape variety, "Syrah" is sometimes mixed with Viognier to bring more finesse to the wines. Today, the Rhône Valley estate extends over nearly 17Ha, and the two sons of the family, Michaël and Alexis, still have challenges to meet, particularly viticulture. This is how the decision to launch the conversion to Organic Farming was taken in 2020. A new challenge of which the domain takes full measure.
