Lucien Muzard and Sons

Santenay

We find the trace of a Muzard winemaker on a deed of purchase of grapes with a Beaune house dated 1645. The estate was founded in the 1960s by Lucien Muzard. His eldest son Claude joined him in 1987 then Hervé three years later, after studying wine in Beaune and internships at Clos Bellefond for one and Domaine Prieur for the other.

Under the impetus of youth, they stop selling in bulk to bottle the 18 hectares of the estate. From new lightning, from the whole harvest, an identity is defined. In 2019, Lucien's granddaughter joined the family business. And a small trading activity is born, to diversify the cuvées, but Santenay remains the heart of the estate.
