Château-Grillet is located between the towns of Vérin and Saint-Michel-sur-Rhône, south of the city of Vienne. Owned since June 2011 by the Pinault family, which also owns other vineyards gathered within Artémis Domaines.
During a rich history, a key date will forever mark the history of the property. On December 11, 1936, the request for recognition as an appellation of origin allowed Château-Grillet to be one of the very first appellations awarded in France, but also among the smallest. Rarely, Château-Grillet is therefore also a monopoly.
Only 3.5 hectares in the heart of the northern Rhône valley, worked organically since 2011. The Viognier grape variety reigns supreme here and it is planted on two types of soil. Each "micro-climate" is carefully taken into account to make selections that will be picked, pressed and vinified separately. An aging of 18 months is carried out with 20% new barrels. For wines that have long since gained recognition.
