In 1855, the Château d'Yquem will be the only property recognized as the one and only Premier Cru Supérieur in the official classification established at the request of Emperor Napoleon III for the Universal Exhibition in Paris. Château d'Yquem will enter a new era thanks to the acquisition of the property by the LVMH group.

Of the 113 hectares of the Sauternes Château d'Yquem vineyard, only a hundred are in production, Sémillon representing the majority of the grape variety (75%), supplemented by Sauvignon blanc (25%).

Château d'Yquem is recognized for its mastery of successive picking. From grape to bottling, the production of a Sauternes Château d'Yquem wine illustrates a know-how requiring an extremely long process, with constant attention and meticulousness.
