Moric

Grosshöflein Kirchengasse - Autriche

Roland Velich is no stranger to the Austrian wine scene. In 2001, he founded the Moric estate in Burgenland. Blaufränkisch is the essential autochthonous grape variety here, on a total area of 22 hectares. From very old vines which follow traditional vinification methods and after spontaneous fermentation in open vats, the wines are aged in barrels and then bottled without any form of fining or filtration. Very low yields to satisfy a very high quest for quality.

One of the most influential magazines in the United States, Wine & Spirit Magazine, has included Moric for the 5th time in its list of the 100 best wineries in the world. Robert Parkers of the 'Wine Advocate' compares them to the great Burgundian wines. Its latest scores are unequivocal, going up to 96/100 for the Lutzmannsburg Alte Reben 2015 cuvée. This is the best score ever obtained by an Austrian wine.
