Two Burgundians, Jacques Seysses founder of Domaine Dujac, and Aubert de Villaine, associated with a Parisian friend, Michel Macaux discovered at the end of 1989, a property named at the time "Le Logis de Nans", in Nans- les-Pins 30 kilometers from the Mediterranean. This 46-hectare vineyard benefits from an ideal microclimate. It faces due south at an altitude of 350 to 400 m. The property is renamed “Triennes” in honor of the Triennia, bacchanals that took place every three years under the Roman Empire.
Triennes has invested enormously in its terroir since the purchase of the Estate in 1990. The objective is, in the long term, to reconstitute a healthy vineyard with good mass selections and a choice of plant material adapted to the climate and to the clay-limestone soils. . It is in this state of mind that Viognier has been experimented with great success in Triennes since 1990.
Concerned about the preservation of their terroir, they have been certified Organic Agriculture since 2011.
