Domaine Violot Guillemard
Pommard
Marie-Louise Faivre (1903-1987) married Louis Violot who died prematurely. They have two sons, Roger and Gilbert. She then married Jules Guillemard and developed the vineyard with him. Roger and Gilbert become winegrowers! Gilbert (1926-1986) married Madeleine (1931-2002) and they had 6 children: Alain, Jean-Luc, Guy-Joel, Thierry, Christophe and Marielle. Thierry joined the vineyard in 1978 and in 2007 bought the vines that his younger brother had abandoned. He is currently the sole owner in the family of the Pommard Platière, Rugiens, Epenots and Derrière Saint-Jean appellations as well as Beaune Clos des Mouches. Thierry married Estelle in 1990. Mélie, Joannès and Jules were born into the family. The new generation is here and Joannes takes over from her father in 2015.
The vineyard covers 6 hectares spread over: Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, Monthelie, Beaune. Here is what Thierry, the father of Joannes wants to retain from his wines. Great wines can only come from the best grapes. This is why he takes so much care in plowing his land. His vines have been organic since 1999. The heritage of his ancestors, he wishes to preserve the health of the terroir.
The wines must reflect the terroir: no yeast addition, no reverse osmosis, few technical interventions, and not too much wood so as not to alter the taste of the wine. Delicacy and elegance, and above all pleasure!
